Shotimes Mechanics Hall of Fame
One of the problems associated with owning a unique vehicle like the Taurus SHO is finding a mechanic who is well-versed with the vehicle. Many SHOtimes members have found the expertise available at their dealer and at independent garages to be lacking. This is a list of mechanics that SHOtimes members have used and highly recommend. Please supply recommendations via the feedback page. You may also de-recommend shops and have them removed from the list if they a) don't exist any longer or b) did something "not so smart" to your SHO.
These recommendations do not in any way reflect an endorsement of these mechanics, an expert assessment of their competence or business practices, and are not in any way a guarantee of satisfaction if you choose to patronize these businesses. These recommendations are also not a condemnation of the competence or business practices of those businesses not included on this list.

Date of recommendation : April 2002 Don Donelson is the ultimate SuperSHO Doctor. If anyone lives in the Central Florida area or finds themselves visiting the area, I urge you all to look up Don Donelson. His email is 1badsho@thenuthouse.com. He has a garage full of all kinds of SHO high performnace parts and he is currently working on another SuperSHO. He is a certified FORD/SVT tecnician and is the ultimate SHO fanatic. I highly recommend him. -Robert Treto And another recommendation for Don D: At 196k miles, the Yamahammer in my '92 gave up the ghost due to a worn out rod bearing. I made a decision to hire Don Donelson in Port Charlotte, FL, past president of the Sunshine SHO Club and die-hard SHO afficionado to replace the motor, and had my car towed 3 hours to his place. Don is very meticulous about his work and pays a lot of attention to the most minute details. In a nutshell, I had Don replace my motor with a 3.2L with 3.0L intake cams, 96 brake upgrade in front, new brakes in the back, new Ford clutch and various other changes. [Editor's Note - this is where I have all of my non-warranty work done.] Here's an example of a Houston SHO owner's experience with this shop : "I have a 93 auto w/81K on the speedo. I noticed a loss of power (until 4,000RPM) and the shifting of the automatic transmission was lagging behind normal response. After it became very pronounced (lack of power) I parked it and had a dealer tow it in. I will not mention the dealer. They kept my car 4 days and told me "it would be $4,200 plus tax to repair, what do you want to do?" I called Sergio at Jerry's Automotive. After describing my situation, he said have it towed to his place and he'd look at it. I had it towed from the dealer to Jerry's Automotive and ---To make a long story short--he replaced my timing gear, timing belt, a pin and a seal. and $419 later, I was in business again."
